Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ Guitarist John Frusciante And The Mars Volta’s Omar Rodriguez Lopez Team Up

The two acclaimed guitarists are releasing a download-only instrumental collaboration, and you choose the price!

Having recently parted company with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, John Frusciante, has teamed up with The Mars Volta‘s Omar Rodriguez Lopez to release a free download only album.

The album, recorded ‘many years ago’, features original material from the two highly respected guitarists and is 30 minutes of completely instrumental material, mostly leaning towards ‘prog rock’.

In a similar vein to Radiohead‘s ‘In Rainbows‘ album, the pair have generously decided to allow fans to choose how much they are willing to pay for the album, but hopefully most fans will dig deep, as all the proceeds are going to the ‘Keep Music In Schools‘ charity project. The full album will also be available on vinyl and Cd later in the year.

John Frusciante recently topped BBC 6Music poll, crowning him the top guitarist of his generation. He has also recently set up a new group called Swahili Blonde.

The album is available to download here
