Gibson bring back the daring curves of the RD Standard
When Gibson first introduced the RD Standard in 1977, it was well received for such a forward-looking design so it's great news that they've chosen to reissue this truly quirky model.
Half Firebird, half Explorer, it has a solid mahogany body, glued-in quarter-sawn mahogany neck with rounded 50s profile, grad-A rosewood fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets, PLEK-cut Corian nut and 17-degree back-angled headstock.
It's armed with a pair of Gibson classic PAF-styled Burstbucker Pro pickups with Alnico V magnets and comes in either high-gloss Trans Amber or Ebony Black finish, with a three-ply black/white/black pickguard. More info at www.gibson.com
